Opening Song: I Have a Savior, 1st verse

I have a Savior, He died for me
In cruel anguish on Calv’ry’s tree.
I do not merit such love divine,
Only God’s mercy makes Jesus mine.

Jesus, my Savior, I come to Thee
In full surrender Thine own to be.

Scripture: Romans 5:6-11

6 For while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a righteous person someone would even dare to die.
8 But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God's wrath through him.
10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we will be saved by his life.

Message

Jesus didn't die for righteous people. There would have been no need for that, and it would have been completely unnecessary. But because we have all sinned and fallen short of God's glory, (Romans 3:23), something needed to be done to allow us to be able to regain His glory in our lives and stand blameless in His presence. To this end, God had to send His one and only Son into this cruel world to be born and live as a man, suffer the greatest torture imaginable and die hanging by nails on a tree. But did He wait for us to become blameless and righteous on our own? No, again, that would have been unnecessary, because if we could gain our own righteousness without His help, He could have simply allowed us to do exactly that. Jesus suffered and was killed while we were still sinners in order to make us appear blameless in the presence of God. Then by the grace of God through the suffering of His Son, we are picked up, cleaned up and clothed in robes that have been washed in the powerful blood of Jesus Christ, and we are allowed to stand in God's presence fully faultless and justified by our faith in His salvation, which we receive free of charge simply because He loves us.

If you haven't taken a bath in the precious blood of Jesus Christ, I would urge you to do so now. I can guarantee it's the best bath you can ever hope to take, and it's free for anyone who believes with all their heart that they can be saved from their sin by the power of His blood. I would also encourage believers to take this moment to recommit their lives to Jesus Christ. Yes, you can wash yourself in His blood again. We all need it from time to time, since the world seems to like to try to get in the way of our life in Christ

Prayer

Jesus, we come to you giving thanks for Your precious and powerful blood, which washes all our sin away and is treasured far beyond anything on Earth. LORD, some of us are in need of that first cleansing by the blood. Take us in Your gentle arms and bathe us in the power of the blood of Christ. Live in us today so that we may live in You. LORD, some of us have already taken that first bath, but we allowed the world to come between us and You. Cleanse us again and renew in us a right spirit, mind and heart. Help us to never again lose our focus on the most important treasure of all treasures: Jesus Christ. In the powerful and precious name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
